McDonnell May Shift Jet Work: McDonnell Douglas said it is looking at moving some work on the MD-11 jumbo jetliner to St. Louis from the firm’s Douglas Aircraft subsidiary in Long Beach. A Douglas spokesman emphasized that assembly of the MD-11 will continue to be done in Long Beach and that no local jobs would be lost because of the move. A boom in commercial aircraft sales has left Douglas with a $45-billion backlog.
