Citric Acid-based Cleaner Announced: Cal Chem Corp., which supplies specialized chemical cleaners to clients including Rockwell International, Northrop, Aerojet General and NASA’s space shuttle program, announced a new non-toxic way to clean high-purity industrial piping systems used in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, aerospace and food/beverage industries. The material is based, in part, on the citric acid found in oranges and lemons. It is designed to replace such highly toxic fluids as nitric and hydrofluoric acids, which are currently in use.
