Gov. George Deukmejian offered a $50,000 reward Friday for information leading to the arrest and conviction of three men who killed a Wilmington woman and assaulted her boyfriend after abducting the couple from a drive-in theater.

Deukmejian said the three assailants “present a clear and present danger to public safety and frustrate the workings of the criminal justice system.” Los Angeles County is offering a separate $30,000 reward for their capture and conviction.

Last Dec. 15, the three men abducted Irene Franco, 20, of Wilmington and Jesus Martinez, 26, of Garden Grove at gunpoint from a Carson drive-in theater. The suspects drove the couple to an alley in a deserted industrial area north of Carson where they took turns beating Martinez and sexually assaulting Franco before shooting her. Her body was dumped in a field.
