Happy Anniversary: Now Get Out of Here

Share

Since this week marks Rogie Vachon’s sixth anniversary as general manager of the Kings, it is appropriate to see what he has accomplished: Two last-place finishes, three fourth-place finishes, and, thanks to the addition of the Great One (brought in by Bruce McNall, not Rogie), a second-place finish last season.

That can be misleading, so let’s examine the cumulative record over that time span: 183-239-58 for a winning percentage of .442.

How about personnel? From the opening-night roster of six seasons ago, only the durable Dave Taylor remains as an active player. There have been two owners and five coaches, counting the current mentor, Tom Webster.

The only constant throughout this tidal wave of mediocrity has been Rogie Vachon. The honeymoon is over--bring on the divorce.
