Iggy Pop fans should be delighted--for two reasons. The Wild One is appearing in an upcoming episode of HBO’s hip series, “Tales From the Crypt,” where he’ll perform “Kill City” and “Five Foot One” in a dank nightspot called Marty Slash’s Spit Club. Better still, Pop has landed a new album deal--at Virgin Records--and is due to begin recording later this month with producer (and fellow Motor City maven) Don (Was Not) Was. . . . When A&M; was putting together a video press-kit for a new album by the Blue Nile, guess who volunteered to do the interviews with the group? None other than Rickie Lee Jones, who turns out to be a major fan of the band. . . . Fresh from his success scoring “Batman,” Danny Elfman has finished up a new Oingo Boingo album, which is due later this month from MCA Records. Titled “Dark at the End of the Tunnel,” it features such dance fare as “When the Lights Go Out,” “Flesh ‘N Blood,” “Out of Control” and “Run Away (The Escape Song).” In March, the group heads to Brazil on its first international tour, which will take them to Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, where the band will headline a 35,000-seat stadium.
