Effort to Incorporate the Aliso Viejo Area

Share

Current residents of Aliso Viejo have every reason to oppose the inclusion of their residential neighborhoods within the proposed boundaries for the Save Laguna Hills incorporation effort. Our neighborhoods are merely a convenient “land bridge” for the Save Laguna Hills advocates to grab two “plums,” the Laguna Hills Regional Mall and the proposed Forbes Ranch for a revenue base.

A community is defined by the services and institutions which serve us. The county of Orange is providing efficient, ample services now and if “it isn’t broke; why fix it!” Let’s not be snowballed into thinking a city of Laguna Hills will provide a better community, more control and better services.

Personally, my viewpoint is that Aliso Viejo residents now receive ample public services from the county and recreational opportunities through the Aliso Viejo Community Assn. The Save Laguna Hills effort can provide future facilities only through redevelopment; no vacant land is available.

Our identity with the growing Aliso Viejo Planned Community is more important than being a small, new city. Eventually, Aliso Viejo will become an important and equal partner with other cities in Orange County.
