Nation IN BRIEF : PENNSYLVANIA : Clinics Locked by Abortion Protesters

Police arrested and carried away 143 abortion protesters after they locked the entrances to two downtown Philadelphia abortion clinics with bicycle locks in an “all-women’s rescue.” Police Sgt. David Brown said the protesters were taken to the Police Academy, where they were issued citations for trespassing. Abortion-rights supporters held counterdemonstrations, but Brown said there were no reports of violence.
