University of Texas officials said that they notified the NCAA last Saturday of an internal investigation into allegations that as many as 20 Longhorn football players regularly placed bets with a teammate on college and professional games.
However, University President William Cunningham declined comment on a report that Austin police had told school athletic officials last October that the name of the former player, Tal Elliott, was found on three betting lists seized during a police investigation.
