A van overturned Thursday while on a ramp from Interstate 5 to Interstate 8 and ended up in an embankment, authorities said. The driver was not seriously injured.
California Highway Patrol Officer Joe Wolf said the driver, Rodney Scott McMillan, was headed north on I-5 and was about to enter I-8 westbound when he suddenly veered to the right in an attempt to get on the I-8 eastbound ramp. McMillan lost control of the van, which then went over the side of the road and hit a barrier between the freeway and a restaurant in the 4300 block of Pacific Highway, Wolf said.
The accident occurred about 3 p.m. McMillan was taken to UCSD Medical Center, where he was treated for minor injuries.
