NATION IN BRIEF : GEORGIA : Mail Bomb Probers Search Atlanta Sites
Federal agents investigating a series of mail bombings in the South that killed a judge and a civil rights lawyer searched several sites in the Atlanta suburbs, the FBI said. Homes and vehicles in Rex were searched by agents carrying warrants issued by a federal magistrate, the FBI said. They said no arrests were made. Agents said the warrants named Walter Leroy Moody Jr. and his wife, Susan McBride Moody, the New York Times reported. Moody, 54, a self-employed editor and writing adviser, was convicted in 1972 of felony possession of an unregistered firearm in connection with a bomb that officials said was to be used in a failed extortion scheme.
