Lawyers for New Zealand’s losing crew in the 1988 America’s Cup urged a New York appeals court to strip the victorious San Diego Yacht Club of the cup on the grounds it entered an illegal boat, a catamaran, in the prestigious race. The State Court of Appeals has taken the case under advisement, and a decision is not expected until at least spring.
