A new rail pass is available for use in Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden.

The Scanrailpass provides for unlimited rail travel, plus unlimited sea transportation on some ferries and steamers that link the countries.

Buy a pass that allows five days’ use within a 15-day period. Rates $159 first-class and $119 second-class. A nine-day pass, for a 21-day period, is $299 first-class and $209 second-class. Fourteen days of rail travel in one month costs $419 first-class and $289 second-class.

These passes are good for six months from date of purchase, but starts when first used. The passes have to be bought in the United States.

SAS is providing complimentary Kemwel rental cars for one week to two passengers flying together round trip to Scandinavia on its regular or APEX/Super APEX fares until May 15. The two travelers also have to use the car together.

The rental car must be returned to the city where it was picked up to avoid charges.

While traveling in the Nordic countries, check city cards available in Copenhagen, Stockholm, Goteborg, Malmo, Oslo and Helsinki.

The cards offer unlimited use of most local transportation and free admission to major museums and sightseeing attractions. Some cards also offer other travel discounts.

The Copenhagen card costs about $12 U.S. for one day, $18 for two days and $24 for three days. The Oslo card is about $12 for one day, $18 for two days and $22 for three days.

The Stockholm card costs $11 for one day, $22 for two days, $33 for three days and $44 for four days. The Goteborg card costs $11.20 for one day, $19 for two days and $26 for three days. Malmo, in southern Sweden, offers a one-day card for $6.50, a two-day card for $13 and a three-day card for $19.

In Finland, the Helsinki card goes for $16 for one day, $21 for two days and $26 for three days.
