Forward Chris Sullivan, who plays soccer in Hungary’s second division, made his first appearance with the U.S. national team in 20 months Tuesday night and scored a bicycle-kick goal eight minutes into the second half of a 1-0 exhibition victory over Bermuda.

Sullivan, who is from Redwood City, Calif. and plays professionally for the Raba Eto team in Gyor, Hungary, volleyed his over-the-head goal from 10 yards out after receiving a pass from forward Eric Wynalda of Westlake Hills.

It was the first U.S. victory in three games since the team qualified last November for this summer’s World Cup by beating Trinidad and Tobago.

Bermuda missed a penalty kick in the first half against goalkeeper Tony Meola, who sat out the second half while Kasey Keller played.

The U.S. team will remain in Bermuda for the remainder of the week before moving its training camp to Palo Alto to prepare for a Feb. 24 game at Stanford against the Soviet Union.
