Zoo Has a Valentine for Sweetheart Who Bugs You
Associated Press
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. —
Forget the candy and flowers. The Knoxville Zoo offered a different Valentine’s Day present for that special someone--a red-ribboned cockroach.
For $10, the zoo sells Valentine’s Day adoption papers for a pair of cockroaches aptly named Romeo and Juliet. Among the zoo’s 800 animals are 70 giant, hissing Madagascar roaches.
The adoption papers included a card, a T-shirt iron-on decal, a car window sticker saying “Zoo Parent” and a 3-inch-long black plastic bug with a red bow around it.
