SAN DIEGO — Indicted businessman Richard T. Silberman, a former chief of staff for Gov. Jerry Brown, was reported missing today by his wife.
Silberman is awaiting trial on money-laundering charges in a federal sting operation.
His wife, San Diego County Supervisor Susan Golding, reported Silberman missing early today, police spokesman David Cohen said.
Silberman was last seen Thursday afternoon when he left for an out-of-town business appointment, Cohen said.
“About an hour later, he called relatives from his car phone. There was no indication at that time of anything wrong,” Cohen said. “At this time, there’s absolutely no indication of foul play.”
Cohen said detectives were interviewing Golding at her La Jolla home today.
Silberman was indicted last year on charges of arranging with an undercover agent to launder $300,000 of purported Colombian drug money.
