Evander Holyfield wants James (Buster) Douglas--now.

Ken Sanders, manager of the No. 1-ranked heavyweight contender, said he had formally asked boxing officials to clear the way for Holyfield to fight Douglas for the heavyweight championship on June 18 in Atlantic City, N.J., rather than accept $3 million to wait for Douglas to fight a proposed rematch with Mike Tyson.

Douglas knocked out Tyson in Tokyo last week to take the heavyweight title.

Sanders said the World Boxing Assn. ruled Friday that Douglas must arrange a fight with Holyfield within 30 days, and the International Boxing Federation said Douglas must fight Holyfield by Aug. 11.

Douglas’ manager, John Johnson, has said he is willing to stage a fight with Holyfield if Tyson and his adviser, Don King, fail to accept Johnson’s terms for a rematch.
