Reaction of Politicians to Oil Spill Along Coast

Now that the TV news cameras (and oil) are rolling and focusing on our local beaches, we suddenly have concerned state representatives on hand (and camera) calling for legislation that will protect and preserve our beaches, wetlands and wildlife.

Now that the TV news cameras (and oil) are rolling, Supervisor Harriett M. Wieder is on hand (and camera) to reassure her constituents that she, too, will fight to protect and preserve our beaches, wetlands and wildlife.

Now that the TV news cameras (and oil) are rolling, the Big Four of the Huntington Beach City Council--Thomas J. Mays, John Erskine, Wes Bannister and Don MacAllister--have suddenly remembered their campaign promises to protect and preserve our beaches, wetlands and wildlife.

Where have all these concerned elected, dedicated and photographed leaders been in the past while the true environmentalists have been fighting the hard fight to protect and preserve our beaches, wetlands and wildlife?

As I recall, they have been busy soliciting campaign funds from builders and the oil industry. I only hope the voters will remember this at the next election.
