Profit-Sharing Checks Shrink: Employees of the nation’s Big Three auto makers will feel the financial pinch that’s squeezing their companies as they watch their profit-sharing checks shrivel. The auto makers reported 1989 earnings last week, including the base for profit-sharing calculations. The Big Three will spend 70.1% less on profit sharing this year than they did last year.
