NATION IN BRIEF : PENNSYLVANIA : Transplanted Liver Must Be Replaced

The 12-year-old girl who received the world’s first heart-liver transplant returned to the hospital for replacement of the liver. Officials at Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pa., said the patient, Stormie Jones, of White Settlement, Tex., needs another liver because the one she received in 1984 has been damaged by hepatitis and the disease could lead to kidney failure.
