Physician Cesar Candari, school administrator Maida Torres-Stanovik and union leader Thomas Vandeveld Jr. were appointed Tuesday to four-year terms on the San Diego Stadium Authority Governing Board.
Labor leader Joseph Francis, who narrowly lost the competition last month for appointment to the San Diego Board of Port Commissioners, was named to a three-year term on the San Diego Convention Center Corp. board of directors. Developer Morgan Dene Oliver was reappointed to a new three-year term.
In making the choices for the nine-member Stadium Authority, the City Council decided not to reappoint Simon Coleman and Daniel Bridge, whose terms were expiring.
Candari, associate pathologist at Mercy Hospital, Torres-Stanovik, personnel director for the Sweetwater Union High School District, and Vandeveld, president of the United Food and Commercial Workers Union, Local 135, join the nine-member board that oversees the operation of San Diego Jack Murphy Stadium.
Francis, secretary-treasurer of the San Diego-Imperial Counties Labor Council AFL-CIO, and Oliver, chief executive officer of the Oliver McMillan Inc. development company, will take seats on the seven-member panel, which oversees operations of the new San Diego Convention Center.
