NATION IN BRIEF : WASHINGTON, D.C. : Delay Sought on Reagan Testimony

John M. Poindexter asked the judge in his Iran-Contra trial to delay releasing former President Ronald Reagan’s videotaped testimony until a jury is selected. Twelve news organizations, meanwhile, urged that transcripts be made available quickly. Reagan’s testimony, given last weekend in Los Angeles, “is favorable to the defense,” Poindexter’s lawyers maintained. They said that disclosing it prior to the March 5 trial could result in prosecutors rejecting prospective jurors who otherwise would be favorable to the defense.
