SHORT TAKES : ‘Fourth of July,’ ‘Roger,’ ‘Roe vs. Wade’ Cited for Editing Awards

“Born on the Fourth of July,” the documentary “Roger and Me” and the television special “Roe vs. Wade” are nominees in the 40th annual Eddie awards for editing from the American Cinema Editors.

Steven Spielberg was declared filmmaker of the decade for his “prestigious efforts to enhance the art of film editing,” the honorary professional association announced Thursday.

The awards ceremony will be held March 24 at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills.

Here is a complete list of the Eddie nominations for best editing:

Feature film: “Born on the Fourth of July,” David Brenner and Joe Hutshing; “Field of Dreams,” Ian Crafford, and “Glory,” Steven Rosenblum.

Documentary: “Gary Cooper--American Life, American Legend,” Murray Jordan; “The Great Dinosaur Hunt,” John Soh, and “Roger & Me,” Wendy Stanzler and Jennifer Beman.

Television special: “Howard Beach: Making the Case for Murder,” Byron (Buzz) Brandt; “Roe vs. Wade,” Joe Ann Fogel and Elodie Keene, and “My Name is Bill W.,” Paul Rubell and John Wright.
