From Times Staff and Wire Reports

Two San Diego police officers were ordered to stand trial on felony kidnaping and robbery charges after a pair of illegal aliens testified that the officers stole their money and then drove them to an isolated area near downtown. At the close of a two-day preliminary hearing, Municipal Judge Nicholas Kasimatis ruled that there was enough evidence to show that Officers Lloyd J. Hoff Jr. and Richard P. Schaaf committed the crimes. He scheduled the officers to be arraigned next week in Superior Court where, if convicted, they could face sentences of life in prison. “Everything reflects these two officers worked together,” the judge said.
