Fluor Daniel, an engineering and construction unit of Irvine-based Fluor Corp., said Friday that it has agreed to buy Williams Bros. Engineering Co., which is based in Tulsa, Okla.
The price was not disclosed by the companies.
Deborah Land, a spokeswoman for Fluor, said Williams Bros. is an attractive acquisition because of its “excellent reputation” in pipeline engineering and construction of oil and gas production facilities.
Williams Bros. is owned by Ashland Technology Corp., a unit of Ashland Oil Inc. Williams Bros. had 1989 revenue of $46 million, according to a recent Ashland company report.
Ashland officials could not be reached for comment.
Land said Fluor anticipates no changes in Williams Bros. operations after the acquisition is completed. The company will retain its current management and technical staff and will keep its headquarters in Tulsa.
Fluor Daniel, the largest subsidiary of Fluor Corp., is an international company with more than 50 offices around the world. Its main office is in Greenville, S.C.
Fluor Corp. had revenue of $6.3 billion for its fiscal year ended Oct. 31, 1989, but the company does not break out figures for the Fluor Daniel unit.
Fluor said a final sale agreement is expected to be completed Monday.
