UC Irvine’s Rigdon Earns Big West Honor
Dylan Rigdon, UC Irvine freshman guard, was named the Big West Conference player of the week Monday.
Rigdon had a career-high 26 points in a 94-76 victory over Cal State Fullerton Saturday. He made all nine of his shots, including seven three-point baskets. He also had 19 points and eight assists in a 99-77 loss to Nevada Las Vegas Thursday.
A Times’ All-County guard at Mater Dei High School last season, Rigdon is averaging 18.3 points since entering the starting lineup seven games ago. Since becoming a starter, he has made 23 of 38 three-pointers (60.5%).
Irvine (4-21 overall, 2-14 in the Big West) finishes the regular season with games at San Jose State (Thursday) and Utah State (Saturday).
