Manager Lou Piniella of the Cincinnati Reds, who wore uniform No. 14 during his managing and playing career with the New York Yankees, plans to wear No. 41 in his first season with the Reds.
Piniella said he will not wear No. 14 out of respect for the achievements of former Red player and manager Pete Rose, who wore 14 while becoming baseball’s all-time leader in hits.
