Harcourt Brace Jovanovich Inc.: The book publisher reported a profit of $12.4 million in 1989, contrasted with a loss of $126.4 million in 1988. Sales rose 6% to $1.3 billion. In the fourth quarter of 1989, the Orlando, Fla., company closed a sale of its six theme parks for $1.1 billion.
