Golfers in the North County area may soon be able to sharpen their skills at a public practice center proposed for the Brea Dam recreation area in Fullerton.

Community Golf Development Inc. of Irvine has proposed building an 18-hole putting green and a driving range on the east side of Harbor Boulevard, north of Brea Boulevard.

The City Council approved the idea of building such a course in the federally owned recreation area, which now includes the Fullerton Golf Course and public tennis courts.

The company will draw plans for the center and submit them to the city for approval in a few months, said Brooks Corbin, a company official.

Leasing the land to Community Golf Development could bring the city about $125,000 a year. The money would be restricted to improving recreation in the area.
