Fitzgerald Named Defensive Assistant With Tampa Bay

Jeff Fitzgerald, a former player and coach at Burroughs High, has been named a defensive assistant with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers of the NFL.
Fitzgerald, an All-Southern Section linebacker in 1978 while at Burroughs, spent two years playing football at Valley and Pierce colleges before attending Oregon State in 1980.
Fitzgerald returned to Los Angeles in 1981 and completed his undergraduate education at Cal State Northridge.
He spent the past four years as a graduate assistant at Alabama.
The Lanark Recreation Center in Canoga Park will stage a “Fight Night” amateur boxing exhibition Friday at 7 p.m. It is open to amateur youth and adults, independent and club boxers. Registration is $7 per boxer. Weigh-in starts at 5:30 p.m.
