A Woman’s Right to Control Her Body

Share

(Joseph Bell’s) review of Rep. Robert K.Dornan’s condemnation of those of us who support a woman’s right to control her own body illustrates the idea that if you can’t refute the argument, make a personal attack. This is all too common today and reached its peak in the dreadful political campaign of 1988. Mr. Dornan has also been his own lovable self when responding to the suggestion that Ron Kovic might run against him.

I hesitate to fall into the error of categorizing people who support the same objective, but perhaps someone could tell me why so many of the leaders of the anti-abortion campaign are men. One of the most prominent has been a used car salesman--and you know their reputation. Perhaps some philosopher could tell me if, in their hope for immortality, it is the fear that the seeds they plant will not flower. Perhaps the answer is simpler and they simply don’t think that women are capable of making their own decisions.
