Defeat of Effort to Recall Mission Viejo Councilman
Defeat of the (City Councilman Robert A.) Curtis recall should surprise no one, since it merely proves that voters in Mission Viejo are no different from the substantial majority of voters in Orange County--they love to vote against something, anything! Thus, if a candidate (Republican, or course), can find some person, cause or entity that can be labeled as “a big, bad bully” on which he or she can constantly beat up during the campaign, success is assured. In such circumstances, the candidate’s character, record, intelligence and program become non-issues!
The developers, including the Mission Viejo Co., are not solely responsible for the traffic congestion, the polluted air and the crumbling infrastructure in Orange County. The major blame must be placed on those selfish, shortsighted voters who refuse to pay, through taxes, for the services they demand. Hold no sympathy for them, however, since they are getting what they so richly deserve, whether it be Curtis, gridlock or malathion!
