Italy Passes Law That Targets Mafia

ROME —
Italy’s parliament has passed a new law aimed at stepping up the battle against the sophisticated, modern Mafia, especially the laundering of its profits into legal businesses.
The new law gives police and magistrates greater powers to investigate the finances and property of Mafia suspects and to seize profits from crime.
