Keith A. Johnson, chief operating officer, has been named president of the Firestone Co. He will maintain his offices at both the firm’s San Diego division headquarters and at Newport Beach corporate headquarters. Johnson co-founded the company with Peter Ochs in 1981.

Steve Vliss has been promoted to executive vice president for Inco Homes, based in Upland. Vliss will chair the company’s executive committee meetings and become more involved in overall activities.

San Diego-based Nielsen Construction Co. has promoted Jeffrey E. Platt to senior vice president. Platt will continue as chief financial officer, treasurer and assistant secretary of the board.

At Calabasas-based Griffin Homes, Tak Fujii is new senior vice president of corporate operations and Charles H. Fedalen Jr. is the company’s vice president and general counsel. Fedalen is also corporate secretary.

Stephen P. Wallace is chief financial officer at A-M Homes, Santa Barbara. Wallace will work with financial institutions and oversee the company’s budgeting, accounting and tax policies.

Bret Magpiong has joined Cuesta Properties Inc., Irvine, as vice president of finance and investments. Magpiong will lead the real estate division and supervise property acquisition and development.

The Southern California division of Leisure Technology has named Michael Poltl vice president of finance and administration. Poltl supervises financial reporting, banking relationships and management of the Oceanside-based division.

Bren Co.’s new director of land development in its San Diego division is E. Dale Gleed. He will prepare site budgets, and analyze land investment opportunities.

Connie Millsap has joined Los Angeles-based Environmental Contracting Corp. as vice president of business development. The general contractor specializes in tenant improvements and office build outs.

Trammell Crow Co. in Irvine has announced that Susan B. Whittaker will plan development of the firm’s Park Place project.

ACCOLADES: Samuel E. Haynes, executive vice president of Irvine-based Bramalea California, Inc., has been elected to the 1990 national board of directors of the National Assn. of Industrial and Office Parks.

Property Managers

Victoria Partnership in Rancho Dominguez has a new vice president of property management: Patrick H. Hanrahan. He manages and leases the Victoria Partnership, Carson Estate Co. and Carson Dominguez Properties portfolios. Hanrahan is an eighth generation descendant of Juan Jose Dominguez, who was awarded the 76,000-acre Rancho San Pedro land grant in 1784.

Richard P. Welles, president of the Building Owners and Managers Assn. of Greater Los Angeles, has joined Manufacturers Real Estate as property manager of its 35-story 865 South Figueroa Street office building, under construction in downtown Los Angeles.

Lilly Lee, chairman of Lilly Enterprises, Inc. and Lilly Property Management Co., was named 1989 Businesswoman of the Year by the Asian Business League of Southern California.

ACCOLADES: Clive Graham Jr., 1986 president of the Greater Los Angeles Chapter of the Institute of Real Estate Management, has received the 1989 Henry G. Beaumont Certified Property Manager of the Year award. Graham is president of Graham Management Corp. in Long Beach.

Maria Mitchell-Schaeffer has been promoted to vice president and regional director of the Mitchell Co.. She oversees marketing and sales operations of the company’s northern region. The Calabasas-based firm sells and markets new residential communities throughout the Southland.

Civil Engineers

The Keith Cos., headquartered in Costa Mesa, has hired Joseph J. Chesler to be principal planner, specializing in public agency services. Keith Lee Ludowitz has become principal planner in the firm’s North Counties division, based in Woodland Hills.

James W. May Jr. has been named senior project manager of the San Juan Capistrano office of VTN Southwest Inc., a San Diego-based land planning, civil engineering and surveying firm.

Title Firms

World Title Co. has chosen Guido Schenkhuizen, a corporate vice president, to be operations manager for the company’s Arcadia office. Jim Belardi has been appointed vice president and San Bernardino and Riverside County sales manager. Belardi will continue as San Bernardino County operations manager.

Robert Smylie and Gary Leven have announced their new partnership, Smylie & Leven, in Century City. The firm specializes in real estate law.

ACCOLADES: Ben Cheng is the new president of the Los Angeles chapter of Certified Commercial Investment Members. Cheng has been a real estate instructor in UCLA and UC Irvine extensions. He created Ben Cheng Seminars.
