Deficit Reduction

A few common-sense steps would wipe out the deficit and lead to peace dividends that would make our country a near-paradise:
1. Disband the Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines. The Russians aren’t coming and never were. Retain, however, the Coast Guard, which frequently does something useful.
2. Convert the Pentagon into the world’s greatest office building, parking lot and shopping center.
3. Terminate the CIA, that nonstop troublemaker.
4. Stop subsidizing our nation’s No. 1 substance killer, the tobacco industry.
5. End the hopeless war on drugs. Legalize them and almost everything else, such as gambling, flag-burning, prostitution, booze--oops, that’s been done--right turns on red in all states, etc.
6. Cancel NASA, a useless, horribly expensive toy which has become a national bore.
7. Solve the jail and prison shortage by requiring a speedy death penalty for all convicted felons.
