Filmmaker John Hughes and talk show hostess Oprah Winfrey will be honored tonight by the Chicago Film Critics Society for their commitment to working in Chicago.

Hughes, who’s filming “Home Alone” in Chicago now, has also filmed many other projects in the Windy City: “Uncle Buck,” “Sixteen Candles,” “The Breakfast Club,” “She’s Having a Baby” and “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.”

In his newest film, Hughes’ original screenplay follows the exploits of a boy accidentally left “home alone” three days before Christmas when his family flies off to a holiday in Paris. They discover their oversight halfway across the Atlantic but cannot get a flight back to Chicago because of overbooked seasonal travel.
