Monrovia : Building Ban Extended

Share

The City Council on Tuesday unanimously approved a six-month extension of a building moratorium for the city’s undeveloped hillsides.

The ban, adopted Feb. 6, was prompted by opposition to a residential development proposal in the Cloverleaf area, which encompasses 356 acres in the northwest part of the city, just south of the Angeles National Forest.

The ban will allow planning officials time to review the hillside development standards adopted in 1980 and re-examine building guidelines devised for the Cloverleaf area in 1984.

If more time is needed when the ban expires Sept. 6, the city can continue extending it for a total of two years, Community Development Director Don Hopper said.
