Hazardous Material Scare Closes Freeway
The southbound lanes of the San Diego Freeway were closed late Wednesday because authorities feared that a truck that crashed in San Clemente was carrying hazardous cargo.
However, about 90 minutes after accident near Avenida Califia, the California Highway Patrol determined that there was no hazardous material aboard.
The accident occurred around 9:55 p.m.
The truck driver was taken to San Clemente Hospital for treatment of injuries. He condition was not immediately available.
