Teacher Pay
I agree with Lewis Solomon (“Year-Round Schools,” Opinion, Feb. 18) that teachers who wish to earn extra money may teach in other classrooms during their vacations. However, Solomon’s suggestion that such “off-track” teaching gives teachers the opportunity to work “full-time” is insulting.
According to our contracts with the Los Angeles Unified School District, my peers and I are full-time classroom teachers. Perhaps Solomon meant to say that teachers may work “overtime” while their students are on vacation.
