A 19-year-old man was arrested in Glendale Thursday on suspicion of kidnaping two brothers he was baby-sitting.

Glendale police at about noon arrested Darren S. Kim, who disappeared Tuesday night with the two boys, ages 2 and 4. The boys apparently were not harmed, police said. Kim was being held in the Glendale City Jail in lieu of $100,000 bail.

The boys’ father, Samuel S. Ko of Glendale, said he doesn’t want authorities to prosecute the youth.

Police said Kim had been living at the family’s home in the 1600 block of North Verdugo Road for the past three weeks. He was watching the boys Tuesday night while Ko and his wife, Jennifer, were out to dinner. When the parents returned, the baby-sitter, the boys and the family’s van were gone.

Kim was arrested the next day when an unidentified informant called police after spotting the van outside a market at Broadway and Pacific Avenue in Glendale.

Sgt. Dean Durand said police would ask the district attorney’s office to file kidnaping charges, despite the family’s reluctance to pursue the matter.
