Home Improvement : Save Hotel Bills, Build a Vacation Cabin

Share
Ellingson has been designing patterns and plans for the amateur woodworker since 1948.

Building your own frame cabin on a small parcel of land is an economical way to spend your leisure hours for vacations, holidays . . . any occasion.

The secret of this cabin’s success is its rigid frame system, which depends on the principle of the arch and provides a wide, clear span with no interior posts. The basic structure is 20-by-24 feet, but can be made larger by adding more frames. The covered deck and large expanses of glass on both end walls allow you to enjoy the surroundings of your cabin location.

The plan was done in cooperation with the American Plywood Assn. and includes a complete step-by-step guide in constructing the cabin from clearing the ground to furnishing ideas. A detailed materials list and extra information on lumber are also included.
