Alberto Tomba of Italy skied a blistering second run and won the last men’s World Cup slalom of the season today.

Tomba, fifth after the opening run, had a combined time of 1 minute, 37.70 seconds down the Stoten course as he ended the slalom campaign with one second place and two straight victories.

“It’s a pity that the World Cup is finished, because I’ve been skiing better and better after recovering from my injury,” Tomba said.

“La Bomba,” who missed two months in midseason because of a broken collarbone suffered in a spill during a Super G race last December at Val d’Isere, France, had won the next to last slalom Thursday at Geilo, Norway.
