Meris Wins $61-Million Award: Meris Inc., a San Jose-based medical laboratories operator, said it was awarded a $61-million compensatory damage judgment against Memorial Health Technologies, a subsidiary of Memorial Health Services of Long Beach. Meris said the Santa Clara Superior Court jury award resulted from a suit it filed in 1985 charging the Memorial subsidiary with breach of contract and deliberately interfering with its business. Officials of Memorial Health Services, which operates Memorial Medical Center in Long Beach and Saddleback Community Hospital, could not be reached for comment.
