Nation : Three Die in Nursing Home Fire
Three patients were killed and two dozen were injured in a fire that gutted a nursing home soon after most of the 85 patients had gone to bed for the night, authorities said today.
Authorities said one fireman was injured in the Tuesday night blaze at the Dardanelle Nursing Center. He and three nursing home patients were flown to Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock, where they were listed in satisfactory condition.
The fire began at about 9:30 p.m. in the living room in the west wing, which contained most of the bedridden patients. The cause has not been determined but an electrical problem was suspected.
