Attacker Charged With Threatening Saldana
A Scottish-born drifter who tried to murder actress Theresa Saldana outside her West Hollywood apartment in 1982 has been charged with sending threatening letters to her from Vacaville state prison, the Los Angeles district attorney’s office said Wednesday.
Arthur Jackson, 54, would have been eligible for parole April 11, but he will remain in custody until the new charges are resolved, district attorney’s spokeswoman Sandi Gibbons said. He was found guilty of attempted murder in the stabbing attack and sentenced to 12 years in prison.
Gibbons said Jackson sent Saldana 16 letters in which he wrote of his “divine mission” to kill her. Jackson also was charged with writing threatening letters to Jeffrey Fenn, a passer-by who saved Saldana from the attack in 1982, Gibbons said. He faces up to seven years and eight months in prison on the new charges.
