COUNTYWIDE : Kovic Endorses Yudelson in Race
Vietnam veteran Ron Kovic may have decided not to run against Rep. Robert K. Dornan (R-Garden Grove), but he has not disappeared from the Orange County political scene.
Jerry Yudelson, one of two Democratic candidates for the 72nd Assembly District seat held by Curt Pringle (R-Garden Grove), announced Thursday that he has the endorsement of Kovic, whose life is portrayed in the movie “Born on the Fourth of July.”
Kovic could not be reached for comment Thursday, but in a statement released by Yudelson’s Assembly campaign office, Kovic says that Yudelson has his “full support and endorsement.”
Yudelson said he is “pleased to receive the endorsement of a remarkable man.”
Yudelson’s Democratic opponent in the June primary is Tom Umberg, a former federal prosecutor who lives in Garden Grove. Umberg said that he had not sought Kovic’s endorsement.
