World IN BRIEF : FRANCE : Blast Rips Mosque Before Party Meets

An explosion tore through a mosque in Rennes in western France, apparently the latest in a series of attacks against Muslim immigrants from North Africa. No one was injured in the blast, which came hours before the governing Socialist Party was to open a four-day congress in the city. The blast, apparently caused by an explosive planted against a wall, heavily damaged the building, police said.
