OJAI : Deadline Extended for Arts Roster

Share

Artists, writers, actors and musicians still have an opportunity to be listed in the first city of Ojai Arts Roster.

The deadline for free listings has been extended to March 22.

More than 180 listings have been received, said Bert Collins of Ojai, a member of the city’s Arts Advisory Committee. Committee members are compiling the free directory for distribution later this spring at City Hall, the Ojai Valley Chamber of Commerce, public libraries and businesses.

There is no charge to artists to list a brief statement describing their medium, name and phone number. Addresses are optional, since the information will be made public.

Committee member Bert Collins, an award-winning acrylic realist, will be accepting listings through next Thursday, the committee’s next meeting, at Ojai City Hall, 401 S. Ventura St. It will begin at 6:30 p.m. Listings may also be given by phone at 646-6907.

At the meeting, the city will select recipients of arts grants. Six applicants have applied for the $1,700 the city has budgeted for grants this year.

Among programs seeking grants are art classes and the annual Ojai Music Festival, June 1-3, at Libbey Bowl.

Other items on the panel’s agenda are a proposal for funding from the Ventura County Art Alliance and the selection of artists for the Art in Public Places program. Under this program, paintings are selected for display in City Council chambers for six-week periods.
