FOR MONTHS, THE former Richard Simmons Exercise Asylum brandished a banner, “Bonjour. Votre construction temporaire.” Finally unveiled is Les Rugs, a retail, area rugs-only offspring of to-the-trade-only Decorative Carpets. Les Rugs is stocked with more than 500 6x9, 8x10 and 9x12 rugs from around the world. There’s a large selection of kids’ rugs (Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver bought a giant teddy bear rug), antique Orientals, even designer rugs by contemporary artists (including David Hockney and Paul Klee).
