Spelling Entertainment Inc.: The company said second-quarter profit was $2.1 million, down 34% from the same period the year before. Overall revenue was $43.6 million, a 69% increase over the year-earlier quarter. Increased interest payments and purchase-price amortization resulting from the company’s acquisition of Worldvision Enterprises Inc. were blamed for the profit decline. Spelling Entertainment, based in Los Angeles, develops, produces and distributes television programming.
