WORLD : Soviet-Japan Spaceflight Dec. 2

The Soviet-Japanese spaceflight, which will put a Japanese television journalist in orbit, is scheduled for Dec. 2, the Soviet Glavkosmos space agency said today.

The agency said two Japanese candidates for the flight, Kikuchi Rioko and Akiyama Toehiro, have completed the first six months of training for the mission.

The TBS Radio & Television Broadcasting Co. of Japan is paying $9 million for the first joint Soviet-Japanese launch of one of their journalists to the Mir space station.
